The thing I love most in this world is crafting and creating pieces like the one above! I love my shop don't get me wrong...but nothing compares to my love of working with my hands and creating one of a kind things!!!
The past few days here have been beautiful and thought I would take advantage of the weather...with Texas this time of year you really never know what your gonna get!!!
Anywho.... This piece came from a thrift store in Burnet Texas. This thrift store actually helps fund a girls home in the area. So all your finds go to a great cause. I found this piece it was a originally an old record player.... It was only $15!!!!! The scroll detail is what captured me when I came across it... I knew with a little paint this could be amazing!!!!!!
So after months ... and months....and a few more months of sitting outside my house I thought it might be time to get with it!! I start by knocking out the old record player equipment inside! By the way sorry for the horrible pictures I was using my ipad and it was bright outside!!
After I gutted it.... I noticed a few spiders in the corners...ain't nobody got time for that!!!! Just as a precaution lol I decided to spray the corners with bug spray ... the last thing I need is a bunch of spider eggs hatching .. don't want to find myself on the next episode of Infested!!!
Then I sanded it down of picture of this step.... then using a small paint roller I painted the smooth edges.... then took a paint brush to to finish the front ! I went back and added some brown paint with a small paint brush to give the front a little more depth and a Mexican cantina feel..... and lastly I took my beloved gold glaze and made it even more fabulous!!!!
I still have to add a backing and a bottom bu that is easy.....
Total Invested -- $15
I had left over paint from a prior project and I'm just going to use old fence wood or pallet wood to finish the back and bottom ... both of which I have on hand!!!
I don't think you can beat that!!!!
