DIY: Shelf to Serving Platter

Me and my husband always get in a spiff on who hoards the most.... I am by no means a hoarder!! I just see potential in things others might consider trash!! Now Jon on the other hand, hoards car parts to cars we don't own and maybe never will!! Pretty sure that's the definition of hoarding... But don't get me started lol...

Anyways, I had several of these shelves lying in the garage for what feels like centuries! They are from an old entertainment center I gutted for a previous project. I couldn't bare to throw them out, I knew they were destined for great things!
They made the cutest serving platters!!!!

This is what they looked like before.....
Don't you see the hidden potential?!?!?

1# First, I sanded them down a tad. The dirt and grime had built up overtime and I wanted to make sure I had a smooth surface.

#2 Then I quickly slapped on some mint paint.

#3 Then I busted out the acrylic paint! I painted abstract and random designs on the mint surface. * I just free handed the patterns in a really imperfect way.... reminding myself to keep it SIMPLE STUPID!!

#4 After the paint was dry, I distressed them with a sander.

#5 Lastly, I added decorative handles on each side!!

It was nice chatting with Y'all!! Hope you enjoyed this post!!Leave me some love below!!

P.S.  Check back tomorrow to see the adorable jewelry organizer I made out of the same shelves!!
