Strawberry Shortcake

I am a Jason's deli strawberry short cake addict. I CANNOT go eat at Jason's without ordering one... I just can't.
Strawberry shortcake is super simple to make and I'm not talking that store bought angel food cake with strawberry goo that gets smothered on top. I'm talking dense yellow cake layered with homemade whipping cream and fresh strawberries.

Strawberries were on sale at the grocery store this evening so I thought what better excuse to indulge in a few extra calories this evening!

My family LOVES strawberries so this dessert gets a 5 star recommendation from the littles. Did I mention its pretty cheap to make! Total cost is around $8 and feeds 8-10 people depending on serving size.

Grandma's PTA Dessert

I'm finally uploading the famous PTA dessert!
I spent most of the day yesterday cleaning house then happen to spot a gallon of white interior paint in the garage and had a "Look, squirrel!" moment. I ended up painting baseboards, window seals, doors, and my fire place. Needless to say bedtime came early last night.... but man what a difference fresh baseboards and doors make! Ok Ok on to the post....

My grandmother's PTA dessert has to be on my 10 favorite recipes growing up. My grandma Shirley was always in the kitchen whipping something yummy up. It was in her kitchen I developed my passion for cooking and love for creating dishes that pleased not only your appetite but your heart.  She has a picture hanging in her kitchen of me around the age of 5 or 6 all decked out in one of her aprons licking the spoon and bowl, like I did most often when I helped her in the kitchen. Maybe that's where the real love of cooking came from, the tasting part!!

This dessert has many names and quite honestly I'm not sure where the name PTA dessert came from. Some might argue the name but this yummy concoction will please any sweet tooth and that's undeniable!

Liebster Award

I was feeling a little sluggish this morning. My allergies have gotten the best of me and after  yesterdays extreme house cleaning, I was dreading coming to work this morning! After I did my normal opening duties I sat down at my computer and opened my blog to find that exciting comment awaiting notification. This perked me up a tad and as I continued reading I got even more excited when I realized I was nominated for the Liebster award by Julie over at Law Student To Life Student . What a way to start the New Year!

Have faith and everything else will fall into place...

I'm so exhausted this morning as I cling to my Starbucks cup sipping on my Pumpkin Spice Latte waiting for the slightest spark of energy! I have a list of things I could be doing today, but I'm stuck at the shop! Some people tend to think owning your own business means free and flexible schedules.... I can only laugh at that!! I love being a small business owner but it takes hard work and commitment. As much as I love my business there are def those days I cry to and from work asking my self questions like....When will life get easier? Is this really what I am meant to do? Am I running my business efficiently? What am I doing wrong? what am I doing right? ...

That's when I have to lay everything down to my Savior. I know I was  put in this situation for a reason and I know if I trust him and be PATIENT{ a trait I def wasn't blessed with} he will come through for me and my family. When I get overwhelmed between the shop, Jon's car lot, and my duties as a mother.... I simply just walk around my shop looking at the brand I have built in the past two years. It doesn't take long for me to soak in my blessing and let go off all my worries. I am so blessed and I def wouldn't be where I am if it hadn't been for so many people rallying me and praying for me. Living for today and not tomorrow is so important. I was put in this situation because I'm here to inspire women everywhere to follow there dreams. Its not an easy job but the reward at the end of the day is so much sweeter!

Following your dreams is scary, I know. I still remember the hesitation as I walked through the doors to sign my very first lease. At that point in my life I felt like I had nothing to lose. I was in the middle of a spring semester studying a degree I grew to hate. I dreaded getting up in the mornings and found myself slacking off! I knew then I wasn't where I needed to be.... But I truly believe If things are meant to be the doors will open! God has big plans for you just like he does for me! I encourage you to pray and he will lead you to the path you need to take!

It was so nice chatting with Y'all today! Remember God has big plans for you...

Lovely Card Display!

Awhile back I order these really fun cards for the shop and they have just been sitting in the box in the back collecting dust! I wanted to come up with a display that would showcase these eclectic beauties... At first I thought I could use an old shutter but I already have a shutter display... Then I remembered this fabulous frame that was piled in my garage with all my other "I'll get to you one day projects !"

I wiped it down really well.

Then measured the width of the frame marking every five inches. I did this to both sides of the frame.
I gently placed a small nail on each of the spots I marked.

Then, I took some wire and wrapped about an inch around one of the nails.

I pulled the wire tightly and wrapped the nail directly across from the first nail. Clipped and repeated to the rest of the nails .
Lastly, I flipped it over and using a small paint brush roughly covered the frame with turquoise paint. I applied a shear coat of paint so that the fabulous gold could still shine through.

Aren't these cards so fun!!

It turned out better than I expected! This worked out great for the shop! It also could be used as an inspiration board, memo board, picture display or holiday card display!!

It was nice chatting with y'all!! Did you like this tutorial? I'd love to know leave me a comment below!!

Back to School!!

I'm not really sure where the heck summer went but its that time of year again!!! My babies are growing so fast ... forget where did summer go where the heck have the past six years went!!! Me and my husband are extremely busy with both of our businesses and I sometimes question if I  will we regret not putting a few things on hold and doing a little more with the kiddos. But truth of the matter is without our businesses = no income which in return means my sweet babies have to struggle too. So I've decided to bust my butt the next couple of years until our business have blossomed then take a little extra time out... (  Now don't get me wrong we have valuable family time and we do fun things but I think we could do an even better job!)

So with the new school year here its time for me to sloooowwwwww time down just a bit. One of the things I plan on doing is taking a photo of my extremely photogenic cuties each and everyday... On top of the photo I am going to purchase a journal for the both of them and I'll put a little something about them each and every day! One day they will cherish these treasures and since I'm not the best about catching our family memories  on video this will fill that " I'm a horrible  mom" feeling I tend to get thinking about it.( especially when I think about the empty baby books ... I'm cringing thinking about it!!)  I feel like this is more personal and after I'm gone one day something they can appreciate! It also gives me some quiet time to reflect on my blessing and how wonderful our God is!!

Below are some cute journals for a little added inspiration!!

It was nice chatting with Y'all! What are your thoughts on journaling? I'd love to know.. leave me some love below!!

Inspiration magnet boards!!!

I love hanging up quotes, pictures, or goals that I can see on a daily basis! It keeps me motivated and working hard toward my goals and cheers me up after a long day!! I had extra materials from a crafting class we had at the shop awhile back so needless to say my crafting itch came out and went a little crazy!!

These magnet boards are supppppper doooper easy!! I whipped three up last night in no time! ** sorry for the picture quality... my camera died after the first picture so had to use the cellar device : /

Supplies:
Fabric of choice
coordinating ribbon
galvanized metal board pre-cut
hot glue gun
large needle

Start buy making two holes
I measured three inches from the each side ... marked it and using a screw driver looking tool lol ( have not earthly clue what this tool is called)..... then hammer it into the sheet of metal.
DO NOT DO THIS ON YOUR NICE TABLE IT WILL PUT A NICE HOLE IN IT!

Using this nifty unknown named tool work the hole to where it will be large enough that your needle and ribbon will easily slip through!

Be careful after you make the holes the edges are sharp! Take a  file and smooth them down if you have one!

Now, take your fabric and lay the right sound down on your working surface. Then place your board on top! Trim off extra fabric leaving a couple inches on each side.

Then fold over the extra fabric twice and hot glue it to the board so that your left with a nice clean edge.
Do the top and bottom edges first then move to the sides!
* Make sure its nice and tight... Oh and depending on the fabric pattern you choose... you might want to make sure you line up the pattern so it doesn't look crooked on the front... does that make sense?

Feed the ribbon through your needle...

Now, carefully run the needle through the holes you make earlier.... It might take some time depending on how thick your fabric is.

Tie the two pieces together on the back and cut off extra ribbon. I hot glued my knot to the board for a little added security!

AND DONE SON!!!

Now all you have to do is make some cute magnets!!

*** I'll be uploading a video tutorial next week ****

Have a blessed day thanks for stopping by!!!
